Top 6 Treatment Tips For Black Men with Curly Hair - Blog Black Hair Styles

It is no secret that curly hair for black men comes in numerous different types of textures. It can be straight to wavy to super kinky, but most curly hair for black men falls somewhere in the middle. If you have been wondering how to take care of your curly hair then you have come to the right place. In this post we will cover our top 6 curly hair for black men tips!

1) Shampoo In The Shower:
Without a doubt the best way to clean and condition your hair is in the shower. Curls are especially prone to frizz when they experience friction, so the water helps to prevent this. In addition, this will also save you money on products since the products have better coverage when they are applied in tandem with H2O.

2) Word To The Wise – Don’t Forget To Moisturize!
It is well known that curls need to always stay moisturized in order to avoid frizz. Curls are naturally deprived of moisture, so you will have to work extra hard compared to your straight hair counterparts. There are tons of products on the market, so you should take time to experiment with several to see which one works best for you. Dry curls are ugly curls so make sure yours are moisturized!

3) Put In Your Products When Your Hair Is Wet/Damp
Similar to number one in that you should apply shampoo to wet hair, you’ll also certainly want to put in your curly hair products when your hair is wet or at least damp. Also, DO NOT EVER use a towel to dry your hair. Grab yourself a microfiber towel and if you can’t then it’s best to air dry. Regular towels cause friction and we all know that friction leads to frizz!
Also, if you have to brush your hair, then use a wide tooth comb and do it when your curls are wet or damp. If you do not then be prepared to fight frizz.

4) Use High Quality Products
High quality products does not necessarily mean less expensive products. Just because a product is less expensive does not mean that it is of less quality. Often times products are more expensive, because you are paying for the “name” of the product. When we say high quality products we mean products that have good ingredients and not poor ones. If you want the best looking curls/fro then you’re going to have to use high quality products. There is just no way around it!

5) Leave Curls Alone After Product(s) Are In
Once you’ve applied the products and styled your hair you are going to want to leave it alone. The more that you play with curls then the more brittle they become. In this case less is more.

6) Let Your Hair Air Dry As Much As Possible
We highlighted this in step number 3, but it must also be highlighted again here. Yes, that is how important air drying is. Trust us, using a towel is like using sandpaper. If you’re in a hurry then use a diffuser, but do not ever resort to using a towel, ever.
